Permablitz (noun): An informal gathering involving a day on which a group of at least two people come together to achieve the following:
create or add to edible gardens
share skills related to permaculture and sustainable living
build community
have fun
The term permablitz is a contraction of permaculture and blitz, where a blitz simply means a focused effort to get something done.
Permablitzes are always free, public events, with free workshops and shared food, where you get some exercise and have a good time.
This Permablitz is come-and-go as you please, and will feature tours of the property, including food growing areas with a focus on native and perennial crops, and native plantings for ecological support. I will also answer questions and share knowledge about the plants, philosphies, and techniques I am using.
The work needed is primarily weeding and I will be available to ID which plants need to be removed ad which preserved. There are thorns and poison ivy, so please dress accordingly and bring gloves and a trowel if you can.
I'll give a tour and Q&A at 10:30, noon, 1:30, and 3, and there will be free native, and/or edible plants to take home for everyone who helps weed. Children are welcome and snacks and pizza will be provided.
