The most often farmed type of tobacco is Nicotiana tabacum. This plant is mobile despite being an American native. It is possible to find dozens of distinctive cultivars, many of which are native to various regions of the globe. Our variety was developed from Strictly Medicinal Seeds in Williams, Oregon, but can now legitimately be referred to as a landrace because we have grown it on our property and have been collecting seed from the plants for a few years. Virginia chewing tobacco also makes a great smoking tobacco.

The height of these beautiful ornamental plants can get as high as six feet. Beautiful, pink trumpet-shaped flowers in abundance are produced by them. Yet if plants are given the right care and attention in the garden, they will yield an abundance of leaves that can be collected and used for curing.

Tobacco that has been properly home-cured has a completely unique flavor.

Tobacco has been traditionally used in various spiritual and ceremonial practices by indigenous cultures. Some believe that organic tobacco, grown without synthetic chemicals, may hold particular significance in these contexts. Here are a few spiritual uses associated with organic tobacco:

1. **Sacred Rituals:** Many indigenous cultures incorporate tobacco into sacred ceremonies and rituals, viewing it as a sacred plant with spiritual significance.

2. **Offerings:** Tobacco is sometimes offered as a gift or offering in spiritual practices. It is seen as a way of connecting with the spiritual realm or expressing gratitude.

3. **Cleansing and Purification:** In some traditions, the smoke from burning organic tobacco is believed to have purifying and cleansing properties. It is used to clear negative energy and create a sacred space.

4. **Communication with Spirits:** Tobacco is sometimes used as a medium for communication with spirits or ancestors. Smoke is thought to carry messages to the spiritual realm.

5. **Connection to Nature:** Organic tobacco, grown without synthetic additives, may be seen as a more natural and pure substance, symbolizing a connection to the earth and nature in spiritual practices.

It's important to note that the spiritual use of tobacco varies widely among different cultures, and interpretations can differ. Additionally, modern perspectives on tobacco use often emphasize health risks, so any spiritual use should be approached with cultural sensitivity and awareness of individual beliefs.
